What DistillCast does

You add podcast (or YouTube) sources to your account. For new episodes, DistillCast downloads the audio, transcribes it, generates a written summary, and produces a short spoken-audio digest of that summary. The digests are delivered to you by email and on a private podcast feed only you can reach.

Your digests are private to you

Every digest is strictly private to the account that created it. There is no public catalog and no cross-user access. Your private feed is protected by an unguessable token in its URL — anyone without that link gets nothing. We don't sell your data or share your library with third parties.

What we store, and where

To produce and serve your digests we store, scoped to your account:

• your source list, and the transcripts and summaries generated from those episodes;
• the generated digest audio (TTS) and any episode artwork;
• your account email and basic usage records needed to run the service.

These artifacts are per-user and private; they are not published or made available to other users.

We measure product usage with PostHog analytics, served first-party from our own domain. It uses cookies to keep sessions together; detailed profiles are kept only for signed-in accounts, and the data is used solely to improve DistillCast — never sold or shared.

Retention & deleting your account

Your library stays available while your account is active. You can export everything at any time from Account → Data. When you close your account, we remove your digests, transcripts, summaries, and generated audio. To request deletion, email us at the address below and we'll remove your data.

Copyright & takedown

DistillCast creates derivative summaries and spoken-audio digests of third-party podcasts for the personal, private use of the user who requested them. Nothing is redistributed publicly. We respect rightsholders: if you own or represent a show and want it excluded, we'll remove it.

To report a copyright concern or request a takedown, email support@distillcast.com with the show and episode details. We process takedown requests manually and remove flagged content on request.

Fair use

A DistillCast plan is flat-rate, not metered — you don't count episodes, and we don't bill per digest. It's built for one person listening to the shows they follow, which for most people is well under 40 episodes a month. That's our fair-use guideline, not a hard cap: going over it occasionally, like distilling a back catalogue you just discovered, is entirely fine and nothing happens automatically.

If an account runs far beyond that on a sustained basis, we'll email you first and work it out — we'd rather understand how you're using it than cut you off. We reserve the right to slow processing for accounts that materially and repeatedly exceed fair use, but contact comes first.

Your digests are for you. Play them anywhere, keep them, and share one with a friend if it's useful — that's normal use. What isn't: reselling the generated audio, republishing it publicly as your own feed or channel, or redistributing it at scale. Those are derivative works of someone else's podcast, and republishing them is not ours or yours to license.

Summary accuracy

Digests are produced by automated transcription and AI summarization. They can contain errors, omissions, or misattributions and are not a substitute for the original episode. Treat a digest as a convenience, not an authoritative record.

Plans and billing

DistillCast is an independent project run by a small team. Signing up is free and needs no card. Paid plans start with a 7-day free trial; we take card details at checkout and the first charge happens when the trial ends. You can cancel anytime from your account page and keep access through the end of the period you've paid for.
